How to Build a Raised Bed

To make a 4x8 foot raised garden bed, you will need:

pressure-treated wood

4 - 4 x 4 x 24” ​

4 - 2 x 4 x 96"

8 - 1 x 6 x 17”

galvanized steel panels

screws
-
​24 - 2” #10 deck screws, star head

32 - 3” #10 deck screws, star head

88 - 1” #9 sharp point roof hex head

drill
-
metal shears ​
To assemble your garden bed:

Assemble ends: Fasten 2 x 4 x 48” to 4 x 4 x 24” corner post at the top and bottom using 3” #10 screws, 2 each board

​​​Note: the top 2 x 4 boards are raised 1” above the corner posts, not flush

Attach the ends: fasten 2 x 4 x 96” to 4 x 4 x 24” corner post using 3” #10 screws, 2 each board

Note: again, 2 x 4 boards raised 1” above corner post

​Attach panel boards: 1 x 6 x 17” to 4 x 4 x 24” using 2” #10 screws, 2 each board

Cut metal panels to fit inside frame

Note: CAREFUL these panels will be very sharp once cut!

Attach metal panels: fasten to 2 x 4 x 48” using 1” #9 roof screws around all four sides, at about 10” spacing along the top and bottom and 4 on each side
